Andy Tyska is the President of Bristol Marine and a newly elected member of the British Town Council. However, before he was a successful businessman, he went to work for Ted Hood in 1994 after graduating from the University of Michigan with a degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering.
As the youngest entry level guy, Andy had the task cataloging several thousand of Ted Hood’s drawings, but soon after he worked directly with Mr. Hood on the development of the 46′-52′ Whisperjet Powerboat Series. While at the Ted Hood Design Group, Tyska worked under Ted Fontaine and Matt Smith on custom yachts that were built at New England Boatworks, Alloy Yachts, and the Royal Huisman Shipyard.
Following this “experience and education,” and with the support of Little Harbor 60 owner, Gerry Lenfest, they acquired the assets of Bristol Yachts. Today they operate full service marine service facilities in Bristol, Rhode Island and Somerset, Massachusetts with an integrated commercial real estate operation that focuses on the incubation and growth of the marine industry in Rhode Island.
